The Gladius was the perfect sword for Legionnaires--short, incredibly rugged, and bearing the famous V-shaped tip for easy access to your opponent's digesting breakfast.
This particular gladius design is based on an actual design, unearthed in Pompeii. Yeah, *that* Pompeii. Ash apparently preserves metal fairly well.
This Pompei gladius is hand-forged from high-carbon steel, with a leather-wrapped handle and polished hardwood guard and pommel. The cross section of this sword is diamond-shaped, which makes the weapon extremely strong and durable. The high-carbon steel is an authentic material, and the entire weapon is forged by hand, as it would have been done two thousand years ago! Blade length is 19.5 inches, overall length is 27 inches.
